SUBJECT: Michael's Cue Bid

Question(s) Submited by: Hemu Kalle TO Harold

I read your Lesson 5 in Intermediate Bridge -2 on "Michael's Cue Bid". How many points (HCP or Otherwise) are needed for a response to Michael's by your partner? I came upon your treatment of Michael's thro' Google Search and its very good....

SUBJECT: NT play of hand

Question(s) Submited by: drdodi2000@yahoo.com TO Harold

Goodmorning Harold: Woke up early ~~ a scenario popped up in my mind that I'd love for you to tell me

"How this should have been played".....Scenario: Bid is 2 NT be opponents: we're toward end of game...EVERYONE IS

AVOIDING HEARTS! SO, dummy - Hearts: J 10 9 xx, Me: Kxx[ I'm right of the dummy] Declarer: Qx My Parner A xx.....So dummy

leads the J, I play low, declarer ducks and my partner ducks.....So declarer wins that trick,So, Declarer ~ still on the

board leads a little H , I duck again...[should I have??? the second time?..because someone said NOT to duck the second time

in NT..Is that a 'hard & fast rule'??] MY PARTNER DID NOT LEAD HEARTS.....OK,,,so let me finish~ Declarer takes it with the

Q becasue my partner DUCKS! Now I said my partner should have taken the Q w/ her Ace right then and there ~~BUT, my partner

said I should have taken the trick w/ my K, but I was second man "low" and I thought the declarer had the ACE! The

declarers finesses' looked "successful" to me ~~~~~ Because my partner had the ACE...NOT me...SO....The opponents WON

their contract which WE could have set by 1 ~ ! How should I have played it...I really felt my partner should have

taken the second trick w/ the ACE over opponents Q....then partner would lead her third and last little "H" and I'd win

w/ my KING ~~ for Down 2 because my last cards was a top Q of spades!!!!

SUBJECT: bid of one diamond

Question(s) Submited by: dodi ballard/drdodi2000@yahoo.com TO Harold

Hi Harold...If I bid 1 [one] diamond and partner bids one spade, with a strong opening hand, may I rebid 2 diamonds

to show FIVE instead of the 4 in a "better of the 2 minors bid"??? ~~ I didn't have six so I DID NOT rebid' partner said I

was wrong! I don't know...please advise ! Thanks DODi

...and the rest of this story is: ...That I reponded 1 NT to his 1 spade~ as I only had "2 littles" in S; so that's why I say

1 NT..anyway, HE PASSES.!..We make FIVE NT~~~~ Yes 5!!!!! ~~~~ AND ~so did everyone else who played that board that

night { Except they all bid 3NT that night] and obviously we got a BAD BAD board!...So I said HE bid wrong! OK..let me know

DODI
